Zid Zid Kids holds the firm belief that fair trade is the only trade. We work directly with our artisans; from concept, to finished product to final packaging. We work along side our artists and pay only fair wages. Our artists work independently in their own workshops and support their families with their wages. Zid Zid Kids is proud to be recognized as a leading Artisan in the Kingdom of Morocco and for excellence in quality and workplace standards by the American Chamber of Commerce in Morocco.

Respect of the Environment

Zid Zid Kids is 100% committed to safekeeping the environment in every aspect. All materials are sourced locally in Marrakech, reducing the carbon footprint. Recycled and reclaimed fabrics are used throughout the line, tapping into the abundance of leftover fabrics from local large manufactures. Recycled cotton and sponge scraps are used to fill the Poofs. The leather is cured by hand, using methods that are thousands of years old. Our fabrics are chemical and phalate-free.

Founders Biography

Mulay A. Essakalli has served for over fifteen years as an award winning creative professional in a number of outstanding projects, both internationally and throughout New England. With his international experience and well-trained aesthetic he has been able to get a unique palette of skills that reflect in his work.Hij worked as a creative leader in print, broadcast, interactive and site designs for large and small organizations including: WGBH Channel 2 Boston, Harvard University, Interactive Factory – “a pioneer” multimedia services company, and Zefer Niteo – two e-business services companies, leaders in e-business vision and experience design. Mr. Essakalli holds a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Master’s degree in sociology at the University of Nice in France. Julie Klear takes her extensive experience as an accomplished studio artist, art teacher, world traveler and enthusiastic part in creating Zid Zid Kids’ products. Everything she does in her work for children is honest and original. Ms. Klear scale drawings and prints have been found in galleries and museums in the U.S. in places like Bernard Toal Gallery, Boston, The Muscarelle Museum of Art at the College of William and Mary and The Toledo Museum of Art. Fifteen years she has taught art to students of all ages in various settings such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston schools in New York and Ohio regions, and Bowling Green State University. She has a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from Bowling Green, Ohio.
